{"id":9855,"date":"2022-05-05T12:01:17","date_gmt":"2022-05-05T12:01:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.euromedica-assistance.com\/cmsms_department\/visita-ginecologica-con-tampone-cervicale\/"},"modified":"2025-08-09T08:23:15","modified_gmt":"2025-08-09T08:23:15","slug":"gynecological-consultation-with-cervical-swab","status":"publish","type":"cmsms_department","link":"https:\/\/www.euromedica-assistance.com\/en\/cmsms_department\/gynecological-consultation-with-cervical-swab\/","title":{"rendered":"Gynecological Consultation with Cervical Swab"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The study of the pathologies and physiology of the female reproductive system are the object of study of a specific branch of Medicine: <strong>Gynecology and Obstetrics<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A <strong>Gynecological examination<\/strong> is recommended for:  <strong>Assess the health status of the woman&#8217;s genital system<\/strong>,  <strong>Choose the<\/strong> most suitable <strong>method of contraception<\/strong>  <em> (birth control pill, hormonal and non-hormonal IUD, vaginal ring, patch, subcutaneous implant)<\/em>, <strong> Investigate suspected infertility in the woman<\/strong> and  <strong>resulting difficulty in conception<\/strong>, find any  <strong>pelvic floor problems<\/strong> <em>(urinary incontinence, genital prolapse, chronic pelvic pain),<\/em> choose the  <strong>transition mode<\/strong> during the  <strong>perimenopausal phase<\/strong> of the woman (the period before menopause), follow the woman&#8217;s  <strong>During and after pregnancy.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The cervical swab is a laboratory test used to check for<strong> microorganisms<\/strong> responsible for <strong>infections of the cervix <\/strong>(more commonly known as the cervix<strong>)<\/strong>. Particularly used to diagnose infections such as, for example, <em>chlamydia and gonorrhea <\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In order to perform a cervical swab that is as reliable as possible, it is recommended:  <em>not undergoing or discontinuing antibiotic or antifungal therapies in the week prior to vaginal swabbing, not having sexual intercourse in the 24 hours prior to vaginal swabbing, and avoiding vaginal irrigations (such as therapies with ova et simila and baths in the 48 hours prior to vaginal swabbing).  <\/em>The  <strong>cervical swab<\/strong> should be performed a few days before the start of the menstrual cycle or a few days after its end.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> <strong>Cervical swab<\/strong> <strong>cannot<\/strong> be performed <strong>during pregnancy <\/strong>.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cervical swab results are available <strong>7 to 10 days after<\/strong> execution.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The study of the pathologies and physiology of the female reproductive system are the object of study of a specific branch of Medicine: Gynecology and Obstetrics.
