Echocolordoppler is a special ultrasound, i.e. a diagnostic imaging examination that, by exploiting the “Doppler” effect of moving blood flows, allows the physician to evaluate the patient’s blood vessels and study their blood flow. If “Doppler” refers to the effect in the ultrasound, “Color” refers to the addition of colors (red and blue) in the ultrasound scan that allows real-time visualization of the status of various blood vessels, enabling the specialist to identify any wall lesions very quickly.

Thus, the Echocolodoppler is used to evaluate possible vascular pathologies (such as thrombosis, aneurysms, arterial and venous stenosis) or for evaluations related to atherosclerotic pathologies.

The mode of performance of the echocolordoppler is the same as for normal ultrasound scans, so it is a non-invasive examination for which no special preparation is required, except, again, for abdominal echocolordoppler, which requires fasting.

The following can be performed at our center: lower limb arterial echocolordoppler, aorto-iliac distortion echocolordoppler, upper trunk aortic (TSA) echocolordoppler, lower limb venous echocolordoppler.
