The study of the pathologies and physiology of the musculoskeletal system is the object of analysis of a specific branch of Medicine: orthopedics (also known as Orthopedics and Traumatology).
Thus, the orthopedic examination is indicated when the patient’s musculoskeletal system (bones, muscles, and joints) is partially or totally compromised in both its structural and functional parts.
The orthopedic examination consists of an initial medical consultation after which the Orthopedist may request first-level (ultrasound) or second-level (CT scan, MRI with and without contrast, etc.) diagnostic imaging tests.
It is recommended to see an orthopedist by then booking an orthopedic examination for problems such as Hip pain or coxalgia, Back pain (low back pain or lumbago), Metatarsal pain, hallux rigidus or hallux valgus, pain of the forefoot and metatarsal (metatarsalgia), sciatic nerve pain (sciatalgia), hammer toe or trigger toe, knee pain (gonalgia).
